Who can you help, and how?
I can help those who seek to enter the CG industry and have a passion for texturing and shading. With my experience in the industry, I can give helpful feedback and improve demo reels that will impress recruiters. I was fortunate to be hired at Blue Sky Studios straight out of college, so I know what the big studios are looking at when reviewing demo reels.
Can you tell us about yourself and your background?
I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I enjoy hiking and doing outdoor stuff. Like almost every digital artist I know I also really like to play video games. I have always enjoyed art but didn't know I could make a living out of it. After realizing there is a huge industry out there, I decided to follow my passion and pursue my dreams.
How did you get to where you are now?
Ever since I learned about the CG industry I knew that is what I wanted to do. I studied art in college, which was very good first step for me. After that I got a job at Blue Sky studios to work on Epic and I've been there ever since.
What projects have you worked on?
After joining Blue Sky Studios I worked on "Epic" which was my first big feature. After that I worked on "Rio 2", "Peanuts" and "Ice Age 5".
Where do you draw inspiration from?
I get inspired from anything really. I am big admirer of Nathan Fowkes' paitings, Bryan Wynia's sculpts, Alwyn Hunt's texturing work, any WETA creature/environment work. I also get really inspired by the people that I work with.
Tell us something odd about yourself?
I`m a clean freak. Even if Im washing dishes, the dishes have to be organized before I wash them. I can't think straight if things are messy.
