About Jen
Who can you help, and how?
I’ve reviewed hundreds of reels over the years in game development, visual effects, and feature film. If you are a professional tightening your sizzle reel or a student looking to put a best foot forward, I will give you feedback to help you get the job you want.
Can you tell us about yourself and your background?
Whether I'm behind a camera or in front of a computer, I love computer graphics. I think that CG artists can use science to create art. I have a background in computer science, but I also studied painting and art history in Florence, Italy, Watt’s atelier in San Diego, and life drawing with Glen Vilppu.
How did you get to where you are now?
In the 90's I graduated Purdue University with a Bachelor's degree of Science and joined High Voltage Software as a game developer in Chicago. In early 2000, I joined Midway Games to work on their last coin operated game Arctic Thunder before moving to San Diego to lead technical art on console games. My love for feature film pulled me to Los Angeles where I supervised rigging and technical animation (cloth/hair sim) at Rhythm & Hues Studios. When not supervising at Rhythm, I worked on sets as an assistant visual effects supervisor, gaining experience in data wrangling, green screen integration, motion capture, and motion control.
I currently reside in New York state and work for Blue Sky Studios on the rigging team.
What projects have you worked on?
Some of the projects I've worked on include the pitch for TMNT, Oscar nominated "Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe", Oscar winning "Happy Feet", Oscar winning "Golden Compass", and Oscar nominated "Snow White and the Huntsman."
Where do you draw inspiration from?
I can watch Disney movies over and over. Disney movies sparked my imagination and desire to join this industry.
Other than that, I am fascinated by photography-- especially golden ratio photography.
Tell us something odd about yourself?
I have a passionate-- and almost shameful-- desire to travel and taste weird food.
